About Brian Schram

Lake St. Clair Michigan Muskie Fishing Guide Brian SchramFishing has been a passion of mine since I can remember. While growing up in Michigan I spent all my free time fishing and dreaming of becoming a professional fisherman. The only thing that got in the way of my fishing was school, music and a conventional job for a short period of time.

It didn't take me long to realize that I had "the bug" and had it very bad. I would head to the lake right after school and fish for giant top-water smallmouth bass all through the night. In my mind I could spend the rest of my life on that canoe and I would die a very happy man.

Since then I have been fortunate to experience some amazing fishing in some beautiful parts of the world. I have been lucky enough to meet and fish with some of the greatest anglers in the business such as John Gillespie, Gary Parsons, Chase Parsons, Keith Kavajecz, Mark Zona, Kevin Van Dam just to name a few.

I have appeared on many Nationally syndicated fishing TV shows as the guest "fishing rocker" as well. Pete Maina is a co-host for one of these TV shows called "The Next Bite". I was lucky enough to become a very good friend of Pete's on and off the water. Pete has "taken me under his wing" so to speak and shown me the pro's and cons and a whole lot more about Muskie/Pike fishing and the importance of conservation. In his words he saw the passion and drive that I had just to feel that next bite. Pete is always pushing me to my limits to focus and perfect my angling skills in which I am forever greatful.

Well the rest is history and I have been able to enjoy a fun career in music and fishing. Realizing that I absolutely enjoyed teaching and putting anglers on big fish, in 2010 I began my own guiding business called "Rockin Fish Tales Guide Service". My home base is the most popular tackle/marina shop on Lake St Clair called Anglers Point Marina. Anglers Point has quickly become the favorite on the lake and the live and artificial bait selection doesn't get any better for all species that swim in the best multi-species lake in the world. It is located at 28955 Wm P Rosso Hwy, Chesterfeild Township, MI.

At the end of the day us "fish heads" wanna catch fish. I stop at nothing to put you on those fish and a chance at your trophy of a lifetime. That's how I fish and that's just my style.... For Booking call 734-709-4728

About Fishing Lake St. Clair, Michigan

Lake St. Clair Michigan Muskie Fishing GuideLake St. Clair, in Michigan, is 430 square miles of some of the worlds greatest fishing opportunity's for most species that swim in fresh water. It's depth has an average of 11' with the north, middle and south channels coming in from Lake Huron and Detroit river into Lake Erie.

There are many mysterious currents in Lake St. Clair that are constantly holding baitfish. In many cases these are areas even an experienced angler would not guess. This can make this giant body of water your biggest dream come true or your worst nightmare.

I have been fishing this unbelievable body of water for  years now and have been lucky enough to learn these things in a short amount of time from some amazing fisherman such as Pete Maina, Keith Kavajecz, Gary Parsons, Bob Brunner and Mini Maniaci.

The single most important thing to remember when fishing Lake St. Clair, Michigan is that you must be throwing your baits where fish actually are feeding or hanging out. This is where I come in and can help you take the "guess work" out of the equation. Especially in muskie fishing, you have to be in the right place at the right time and in some cases have the right bait. There is only so much time in a day and you have to make the most of that time finding these fish. Then be at the most productive area when the feed bag turns on. This has been my plan of attack for years now and it has never let me down in putting fish in the boat.

The muskies in Lake St. Clair are now getting to "record size" and growing every year. In 2009 the MOMC reported and ran in a near 50 lb fish. I personally, in the past 2 years, have hooked fish that I believe to have been 56 to 58 inches long. I have no doubt in my mind that 2010 could harvest the next Michigan state record fish and by a shocking margin.

The best time is anytime you can get on the water however their are certain fishing seasons that will produce better than others. Anchor Bay and some of the other shallow bays are prime spawning grounds and are on fire from April 24 sometimes all through July depending on the weather. Muskie season starts the first Saturday in June and will go until late December. I prefer to show clients the pure adrenalin rush when you witness a 50+ go ballistic sub surface or on top of the water, but I do have "option to troll" as well.

Try your hand at some muskie jigging in the fall in which I believe is the most fun way to hook the beasts. Walleye jigging is also fabulous fishing especially early on just after ice out when they are spawning in the rivers.

Perch fishing usually takes off right at ice out and all through the summer and fall as well. Limits of 10 to 15'' perch are not uncommon. So what are you waiting for?!! I promise that your first time on this "freak fishing paradise" will not be your last!!
